Gingerbread Man Activities – Preschool Printable

Gingerbread Man Letter Match

Practicing uppercase and lowercase letters in your classroom? Maybe your students need a little more phonemic awareness and fine motor control practice. This Gingerbread Man Literacy Center is a hands-on way to match the uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet with your kindergarten students.

All you need to do is download and print the 52 clip-it task cards (we prefer laminating for use year after year) and grab some clothes pins. Students will work independently, with a partner, or in a small group with a teacher to draw a card and then clip the uppercase or lowercase letter that matches the one the gingerbread man is holding. This is surely going to be a holiday activity your students will love, and best of all it promotes early literacy learning!

Gingerbread Man Sight Words

To complete this activity, your students will draw a gingerbread house task card with a sight word written on it. Then students must spell the sight word using the gingerbread men holding letters. Use this activity with a small group in one-on-one practice. This festive activity is sure to get your students in a holly, jolly mood!

Gingerbread Man Letter Cards

Want to provide a fun way to practice letter and sound recognition during the holiday season? Check out this Gingerbread Man Literacy Center Activity that includes 26 uppercase and 26 lowercase letters formed out of printed “gingerbread.” These letter cards can be printed on cardstock and laminated for extended use.

How can you use these letter cards in your classroom? There are so many opportunities for students to practice using these cards! First, teachers could hang these cards for a visual representation of the uppercase and lowercase alphabet during the holiday season.

Next, students can use these cards in a partner or small group setting as flash cards. Each time a new card is pulled, a student would have to respond with the letter name or the letter sound (whichever skill you are trying to work on).

Finally, students can play letter match memory using these cards! Lie all (or some – depending on students’ skill levels) letter cards upside down (after being shuffled) and give students the opportunity to flip two over. When they make a match of an uppercase and lowercase letter, that student gets to keep the pair. When all of the cards have been obtained, the student with the most card wins!

Gingerbread Man/House Letter Match

Who doesn’t love a good matching game? Your students will LOVE this gingerbread literacy center activity that promotes fine motor control and letter recognition. Your students will love learning with these gingerbread man activities.

This activity includes:

·      26 gingerbread man house uppercase letter task cards

·      26 gingerbread man lowercase letter task cards

Get students learning with this engaging center activity when you print the uppercase house letter cards. We do suggest laminating for use year after year. Then, print the lowercase gingerbread man cards and cut them out. Again, we suggest lamination. Students will choose a gingerbread house and must find the matching gingerbread man or vice versa. Students can play independently, with a partner, or with a small group. This activity could even act as a holiday party game!

Gingerbread Man Letter Tracing Task Cards

Learning letter formation can be tricky for early learners (think preschool through first grade). Taking the time to teach your students the correct strokes and then giving your students practice with a pencil or marker on those letters is a super important part of an early education setting. This Gingerbread Man Literacy Center Activity gives students phonemic awareness and fine motor skill practice. Gingerbread man letter tracing task cards can be a great add-on to your literacy centers this December. Make sure to laminate for use year after year!

Included in this resource are 26 uppercase, 26 lowercase, and 26 mixed (uppercase and lowercase) tracing task cards. These cards make the perfect center or independent activity for students to complete. The two most popular ways of using these cards is to:

1.     Simply print these pages on white copy paper and give them to students to practice saying the letter name, and sound, and tracing the letter with the correct formation. Feel free to give students one or two pages at a time using this strategy OR print and bundle for a holiday letter tracing booklet that will keep students engaged ALL December long!

2.     Print these pages on thick paper like cardstock and laminate. Then give students a page (or two or three!) and a dry-erase marker. This strategy for use gives students a fun and printer-friendly version of letter tracing practice. To practice a letter multiple times, students simply need to erase the marker and complete the page over again!

Gingerbread Man Beginning Sound Task Cards

Here’s a Gingerbread Man Literacy Center Activity that your preschool, homeschool, kindergarten, and first-grade classes will LOVE! This resource, Gingerbread Man Beginning Sounds includes 26 task cards that can be used to promote phonemic awareness as well as fine motor skills when using a clothespin or marker.

Print these task card pages and laminate them for extended use and as a part of the activity. Students will take the laminated task cards and identify (out loud) what the picture inside the gingerbread house is (for example: bear). Once students have identified the picture, students will clip the corresponding beginning sound (letter) with a clothespin, circle it with a dry-erase marker, or cover it with a pom-pom or other small manipulative.

This activity gives students a sense of beginning sound practice that is great for the holiday season and beyond!
