Mini Pumpkin Turkey Craft

When the end of October comes around and there are still so many mini pumpkins around your house, we have the perfect activity for you and your young learners! This Thanksgiving arts and crafts activity is a great transition activity from the month of October to November!

Start by grabbing a mini pumpkin, toothpicks, and some Fruit Loops cereal… Yep! That’s all you need! Next, (the adult) sticks the toothpicks into the mini pumpkin to add “tail feathers” to the pumpkin turkey. Your students can then practice counting, patterns, and color sorting while adding the Fruit Loops to the tail feathers. Finally, cut a toothpick into three smaller parts to add to the pumpkin for eyes, beak, and wattle (the red part below the beak). Use items around the house to add these final design pieces; things like playdough, spice drops, marshmallows, etc… can be used for the eyes, beak, and wattle.
